Community design with children
Collaborating with the 4th-grade students of Budenz József Primary School, our goal was to transform the school's narrow and dull hallway into a vibrant community space. Due to the building's staggered floor plan and the centrally located main staircase, the children did not have an area where they could relax, chat, or play. The 4th graders actively participated in both the design and construction processes of the furniture. During Friday sessions, each lasting an hour and a half, we co-created the details of the objects, and together we assembled and painted them. It was important to us to work with recycled materials, which is how retro trash bins became chairs, discarded school boards were turned into tabletops and bulletin boards, and leftover KG drainpipes were used as table legs.
