The lonely bench
During the design of the newly inaugurated MOME Campus, great emphasis was placed on creating functional communal spaces. This stimulating environment, rich in social interactions, greatly facilitates the creative process; however, one still feels a sense of lack. There is no opportunity to retreat and gather one’s thoughts in this bustling atmosphere. I sought to address this shortcoming by placing a bench where one can sit alone without feeling isolated. The solid wood bench is suspended from the concrete guardrail behind the Base building, oriented towards Zugligeti Road, allowing its users to enjoy the afternoon sunlight.
